Oceanwake´s debut album “Kingdom” gathered positive, in some cases even raving reviews. It captured very well the essence of their formative years, when they naturally were a new band in search of their own form of expression. In retrospect, “Kingdom” was a compilation of very diverse songs that the band managed to turn into a coherent album.
This time around, with their forthcoming album “Sunless”, the songwriting is far more together but not any less adventurous. Its four lengthy and dynamic compositions are performed in an inspired and versatile manner. And when this is combined with the crystal clear, flawless engineering and production – courtesy of Korpiklaani mainman Jonne Järvelä – it is safe to say that anyone who appreciates an organic full-length album should buy a copy, and give it the undivided time and focus it deserves.

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
Swirling guitars, furious drums, vocals that at the same time howl from infinite distance and are right up in your head; everything put into dissonant form with the help of unconventional songwriting. This album is my personal key to the icelanding black metal madness that I've ignored for way too long! Lukas Kaufmann
Литоургиiа réussit l'impensable : faire entrer le black metal dans l'église orthodoxe.
This was truly a revelation. I was getting started with funeral doom, working on something with my headphones on... Then came Déluge... my jaw actually dropped, I stopped what I was doing and, wide-eyed, just listened to the track, baffled and amazed. After the album was over (I never do this), I went to lay down with my headphones to enjoy it over again.
I rarely heard (and felt) this much power and emotion in an album. Until I find something better, this is my landmark for peak funeral doom. fluo
